Louise Smith

Louise Smith is an avid mountain biker, hiker and outdoor enthusiast. After a successful career in marketing, keynote speaking and corporate training, she has semi-retired to a chalet ‘in the north.’
Louise lives every day as though it could be her last. Nothing is ever so bad she can’t see the good in it. She endeavours to make each person she comes into contact with feel as though they are special. Usually they are.
After the SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) diagnosis of her niece Rebecca, Louise gathered friends and family to organize a fundraising event to support cure and treatment research. 2010 marked the ninth anniversary of the Esso Rebecca Run for SMA, which in conjunction with the Angel Gala for SMA (also inspired by Rebecca), has now raised over $1.7 million dollars.
In 2009 Louise published her first book, Death and the Lessons I Learned after nearly drowning in a fresh water lake.
These days Louise enjoys working outdoors in a resort environment, and playing in the trails with fellow mountain bike enthusiasts.
Her latest book, Common Sense: And The Other Bits of Wisdom We Tend To Forget or Ignore, is now available for purchase from Amazon and other internet retailers in both paperback and e-book formats.
